Around twice a month on Saturdays I am quickly showing you several projects that I have tried. Other people have already given the instructions, so I will link you over to theirs (click on the title).

My goal is to share links to recipes and Pinterest ideas that I have tried, and then to let you know how it worked out for me when I tried it. It might be a success, or it might be a flop. Perhaps you would like to know if I have tried something in particular? Let me know! If I haven’t tried it yet, maybe I will, and then I can let you know how it went.

Family Tree with a Butterfly Punch

I saw this Butterfly Family Tree in an actual magazine first; then I hunted for the pin to show it to you.  I made this for my mom for her birthday one year.  I used glittery scrapbook paper for the flat butterfly underneath, and then coordinating card stock for the folded one on top.

I arranged the butterflies in a pattern suited to our family.  I included my mom’s (the pink butterfly in the middle) parents and grandparents, and her children, son-in-law, and grandchildren.  So this family tree branches out in several directions!! I already had the paper.  All I needed to purchase was the butterfly punch and the shadow box frame.

I like how it turned out!  I wanted to make my mom feel special and surrounded by the love of family on all sides.

Home Made Bottle Sprinkler

The kids and I were at somebody’s house on a hot day.  They didn’t have a swimming pool or a conventional sprinkler.  So I remembered this pin that I had seen of a home made sprinkler!  An empty juice bottle (or 2 liter soda pop bottle) and a garden hose was all we needed!  I hung it over a tree limb and the kids were able to cool off.  Hurray for mom and Pinterest!

Trampoline Spring Protectors

We recently got a free used trampoline from neighbors down the street who had moved.  Some of the springs were rusty.  I secured the netting to the bouncy part of the trampoline, but kids can still easily step on the side netting and into the springs.  I decided to cover them with pool noodles.  In the link in the title above, they unhooked the springs and slid the pool noodles on.  I just cut slits down one side of the noodle and then wrapped it around the spring.  That was easier for me, and will still work the same way.

I hope that you have enjoyed this edition of Saturday Snippets, and that you have had a great start to your summer!
