💼 Travel and Road Trip Ready 💼
Well, I’ve been traveling a lot lately. One of the things I like to do to save time and money, is to stop at a local grocery store and buy a few things that don’t need refrigerated. Then I can eat in the car, and not waste time waiting in line to order, and then waiting again for them to make my food. (Do you hate waiting in long lines as much as I do?!)
I buy non-refrigerated foods like tuna, chips, nuts/ trail mix, jerky. This is because I’m hiking and doing outdoor things and need the salt anyway. If I have a big enough freezer where I’m staying, I’ll buy some freezer meals like Marie Callender’s. At $3 a meal, that is much better than eating out! I might also buy frozen breakfast sandwiches, which is a really easy breakfast to make in the morning when you’re traveling. It may even only require a paper towel– not even bowls and plasticware which you’ll need if you have cereal.
I hope you like my snack travel idea in the middle below, that I did when my kids were little on a long trip. They loved it! I think adults might even like it!
When I was almost 6 years old, we had a long road trip to make. A dear friend, our landlady actually, wrapped up several presents for each of us kids. She labeled them to open at certain milemarkers– 200 miles, 400 miles, etc. (I don’t remember exactly.) What I do remember is how exciting it was to have those gifts to look forward to. I don’t even know what they were, now! I’m certain they were things to keep us busy on the road. It is a special memory. I still have a few gifts from that lady, but I’m not sure if they were given on that trip or not.
Do you have any great tips about things you do to make things easier when you travel?
Until next time,
Liberty
