This is my first post in a new series called Saturday Snippets.  I plan to post around twice a month.  I plan to quickly show you several projects that I have tried.  Other people have already given the instructions, so I will link you over to theirs.

My goal for these posts is to share links to recipes and Pinterest ideas that I have tried, and then to let you know how it worked out for me when I tried it.  It might be a success, or it might be a flop.  Does that sound like something you would enjoy?  Perhaps you would like to know if I have tried something in particular?  Let me know!  If I haven’t tried it yet, maybe I will, and then I can let you know how it went.

And so, in no particular order…. (links to original posts in titles)

Zucchini Brownies

I recently made these chocolate zucchini brownies from grated zucchini that I had frozen.  They are my husband’s favorite.  He likes them because they are more like cake, than they are like bars.  My husband loves chocolate cake.  This recipe does not use any eggs.  It is sooo easy to make, and it includes an easy frosting recipe!  You cannot tell there is any zucchini in it!  It disappears while baking.  The zucchini works well whether fresh or frozen.  With the frozen, there seems to be extra water, so I didn’t need to add any.  With fresh zucchini, you might need to add a little water according to the directions (in the link above).

Horse Head Wreath

This horse head wreath was surprisingly easy.  I did not even put strings across the frame like the instructions say to do.  I used imitation evergreen pieces from an old Christmas tree, that had wire in them and that bended easily.  I just wrapped them around the frame that I had fashioned.  I know that it is decorated for Christmas, but you could put spring flowers and ribbon just as easily.  Here’s a tip– when you replace all of your old wire hangers (if it’s not too late!) save some for craft projects!!  You never know when you will need one….

I made this wreath for a gift for someone special.

Caramel Apple Slices

When you want to serve a special treat that is a little healthier than cake or cookies, these caramel apple slices are a great option!  You can do an apple bar and let guests make their own, or you can make different varieties ahead of time and let people choose which kind they like.  I used bamboo skewers, sprinkles, and added drizzled chocolate to mine.  I have made these on more than one occasion.

I hope that you have enjoyed this first edition of Saturday Snippets!   Oh- and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Look- the horse head wreath is green, and the zucchini is green!  : )
