I wanted to show you what has happened here in the past year. I hope these videos are as inspiring for you as they are for me. Isn’t it good to be able to look back on the past year and see what you’ve accomplished?!

If you haven’t visited me for awhile, I’m taking you on a house tour to show you what’s new. Four years ago we moved from our little ranch suburban home to a rural farmhouse on 2 and a half acres. On Fixer Upper shows, you see a lot get done in a short amount of time…. Well….. in real life….. it takes a lot longer– unless you have endless money. And being a regular family we long ago reached the point of having to wait to save money in between projects. And I’m thankful that we have been able to do that, too!

Enjoy the video!

And— here’s a quick list too (see if you can tell which ones I remembered to list here that I forgot to mention in the video…..):

  • Replaced 14 more windows— the third and final set!
  • Refinished the trim on 5 of those windows before they were installed.
  • Polystained the baseboard trim in the dining room to match the window trim.
  • Painted the crown molding in the upstairs bathroom.
  • Stained the bathroom door jam.
  • Stained the dog house.
  • Stained the well door in the porch wall.
  • Sealed the boards for the entryway ceiling.
  • Put pretty flower privacy film on the basement window.
  • Wall-papered around the attic fan in the ceiling.
  • Painted the outdoor door and window trim on the front porch.
  • Hung curtains in the attic and made it a more livable, usable, cozy space.
  • Put contact paper under the sink in the kitchen.
  • Installed an electric fireplace in the living room.

Wow– that comes out to about one and a half things per month. It wasn’t really done that way– some months had several things and some months had none. But what if we all had a goal to make one thing in our homes better each month?

I had to take nearly everything out of my craft room when the new windows were installed. I took the opportunity to put in a large storage cabinet and reorganize. It looks so much better than before! I do wish though, that I had thought of putting in carpet before I put everything back….. oh well.

Another thing I did this fall was to reorganize the porch– I moved everything and scrubbed the vinyl siding with a car pole brush. It looked really good— until I added the new-to-us porch swing and decided to leave all the outdoor chairs up there too for the winter.

Thanks for visiting!
