Today I want to share with you some pretty miniature kolanchoe flowers! Nearly two years ago I visited nearby Longwood Gardens. I posted all about it and showed you some gorgeous pictures.

While there I purchased some miniature flowers. I am happy to report that they are still alive and flourishing! So I want to show them to you.

I had bought a matching set of 3 glass ceramic pots with a tray at a yardsale. When I was shopping at the Longwood Gardens’ gift shop, I decided to purchase three miniature kolanchoes for those little pots.

I transplanted them and put them on this wicker shelf in front of my patio door in my kitchen. The sunflowers were a local purchase if I remember correctly. Our cat Creamy thought the shelf was for her.

Here is a another closeup of the flowers after their blooms had fully developed. The pinks are two different shades.

Here is a closeup of the ceramic pots after the kalanchoes had grown, about one year later. Aren’t they so classic and cute?

I think these little yellow flowers look like tiny miniature roses.

Here is a closeup of the pink one.

See how much they grew after about a year or less?

Sometime after this I had to transplant these miniature flowers into larger pots. I also started breaking off some and rooting more. I replanted one of the new shoots back into one of the blue and white pots.

Imagine my delight when a few weeks ago in early January I discovered pink buds on one of my kolanchoes! What a bright cheery thing to find in the middle of January!

I have really enjoyed watching this little bunch of flowers grow and bloom to their peak. Here they are now.

Do plants make you smile? Do you have any favorite ones right now?

  1. They’re so pretty! I really love the pots, too. With all this renovation going on I don’t have any flowers right now. I miss the colorfulness!
