Where Do You Hang Wreaths?
I’m always looking for more good wreath ideas. Today we’re going to answer the quesion Where Do You Hang Wreaths? Have you ever been shopping at the store and come upon a beautiful, gorgeous wreath. While you are standing there examining your find, you look at the price to decide if it is a fair price.
And while you are thinking about the price, you also start thinking– Where will this wreath fit at my house? Where could I hang this wreath? I have good news— there are TONS of great places to hang wreaths!!

Do Wreaths Go Inside or Outside?
First, let’s begin by thinking about the doors that you have. Wreaths can definitely go either inside or outside your home. Exterior doors are probably one of the most popular places to hang wreaths. I think it makes your home more welcoming and inviting if your door is decorated, don’t you?
If you have a grand double door front entrance, you will probably hang twin wreaths– one on each door. So you picture that in your head to see if two of them will look good together, side by side.
If you have just one front door, you can picture the color of your door in your mind, and compare it with the colors in the wreath, to see if they will complement each other and look nice.

While you are deciding where to hang a wreath, you think about other doors you might have. I had an exterior basement door that would look nice with a wreath on it.
I also had an interior door to my basement that was a good central location and I often hung a wreath on that door. So interior doors can be a good choice, too. Even bedroom doors can be cute with wreaths on them!
I used to hang wreaths on my office door at work. It helps to brighten the atmosphere.
There are so many different doors you can use to hang wreaths. Let me list some.
List of Different Doors to Hang Wreaths on
Exterior doors like your front door, garage door, or barn door
Interior doors (like basement/ pantry/ bedroom)
Office doors
Kitchen cupboard doors
Free standing doors/ shutters
Another place to hang wreaths outdoors would be on a porch railing, fence, or deck railing. Be creative, and use a wreath that can withstand the weather outside.

Where to Hang Wreath Inside a Home
In addition to interor doors, there are lots of other places inside your house to hang a wreath. Let me show you!
At Christmas time, you will often see people hanging wreaths outside of their windows. Usually it is an evergreen wreath hung with a big red ribbon bow. And they will hang one on each of the windows on the front of their house.
Well, you can also hang a small wreath from your curtain rod on the inside of your window. Push the curtains to the sides, and let the wreath hang in the middle. This will make your room look so festive and cheerful.

If you have a big fireplace mantle, I have seen where people set an old farmhouse window on the mantle, and then hang a wreath from the window.
Place to Hang Wreaths at Home
Speaking of fireplace mantles– Hanging a wreath over the mantle is a very classic look! You would probably agree that it is important to choose the right wreath that goes with your fireplace. There are so many different types of fireplaces— and even more wreath styles!
So if you try one wreath and it doesn’t look right– just try another one. And here’s an idea– you could try making your own wreath like I have! Some wreaths are easier to make than others….. so if you don’t like your first try then– try again. : )

When I’m at a flea market, lots of times I will see a shutter sitting in a corner and it has a wreath hanging on it. Shutters are a great way to display wreaths! And if you don’t have a shutter, an old door will work, too. Lean the door or shutter against the wall or in a corner, and then hang your wreath on the door. [Hmmm…. should I have included this idea in the Door section?!]
Best Place to Hang a Wreath
Kitchen Cupboard doors are one of my favorite places to hang smaller wreaths. Have you seen people do this at Christmas time, or maybe when they are decorating for a birthday or a baby shower? I like to use paper plates instead of wreaths– because they are both round. So the paper plate gives the same effect as a wreath.

Does your dresser have a mirror attached to it? Mine does. Sometimes people have a mirror on the wall behind their buffet or sideboard. Whether the mirror is on a dresser or a wall, a mirror is a good place to hang a wreath. Just be careful not to scratch the mirror when you hang the wreath. You may want to attach some felt to the back of the wreath to be safe.

Place to Hang Wreaths around the House
How about putting wreaths on a hutch? My hutch in my dining room has 4 glass doors up top. Those doors make a great place to hang small wreaths. It is a similar idea to hanging wreaths on cupboard doors.
Another place you could put a wreath around your house is on a chair back.
There are two ways you could hang a wreath on a chair. If you’re not planning to sit in the chair, you could hang a small wreath on the front of the chair, like Ann did on these rocking chairs.
Then if you do plan to sit in the chairs, you can hang the wreath off of the back of the chair with a ribbon.

You could also hang some mini wreaths from pegs. Do you know how some decorative shelves have pegs underneath? You could use the shelf pegs. Or — what about a coat rack?! Coat racks that are attached to a wall have hooks on them that would look really nice with a wreath– as long as you didn’t have too many coats hanging there, too.
What about you? Do you have any more creative ideas of places to hang wreaths? Let me know in the comments!
